Wednesday 2nd May  ~  Clough Head

G01  ~  high point (1434ft) on the old coach road from St John's in the Vale to Matterdale beneath Clough Head

G06  ~  on White Pike, outlier of Clough Head, watching paragliders. Blencathra behind.

G02  ~  Geordie of  Air Ventures Paragliding School circling us

G06  ~  from the White Pike cairn: paraglider airborne at last

G06  ~  from the White Pike cairn: the Pennines on the horizon immersed in dense purple haze due to a temperature inversion at around 4000ft. This made for atmospheric conditions making it difficult for the three paragliders to get airborne much less make a sustained flight. At last they made it and we left them flying off over the moorland towards Great and Little Mell Fells.

G12  ~  Clough Head summit, 2382ft. Great Dodd behind.

G08  ~  looking down from Clough Head

G09  ~  about to descend

looking down from Clough Head over St John's In the Vale  to Derwent Water and Keswick
